For as long as I can remember, my beach town uniform has consisted of the same essential pieces: shorts, belt, oxford shirt, sweater and canvas tote. It’s a perfectly preppy look that will carry you through any summer pastime.
A road trip demands a comfortable outfit that gives you the flexibility to a) nap in contorted positions and b) room to car dance to bad pop music (a favorite pastime of mine). Plus, the look must be put-together enough to accommodate a variety of situations when you inevitably pull off the road. The outfit I chose for my road trip to the Cape this past weekend ticked all of these boxes.
It may be counterintuitive, but one of my favorite pieces for summer is a chunky fisherman’s sweater. I have an embarrassingly large stack reserved exclusively for the warmer months. These sweaters are not only practical, but seriously versatile too. You can wear it any which way and will always look effortless.
I think most women will agree that you can never own too many striped tees, tops and sweaters, particularly in navy and white. In fact, I have so many that every addition to my little collection elicits an exaggerated eye roll from a certain person (you know who you are). So, it seems fitting to kick off May wearing said nautical-inspired tee.
