With so many pretty rompers to choose from this season (gingham, stripes, florals!), it might be hard to rein it in and go for basic black. But the LBR (little black romper) is a fun alternative to the LBD that will keep you looking fresh throughout the summer. Plus, the black romper will appeal to certain city dwellers who feel more comfortable saving the cute prints for weekend adventures out-of-town. (Totally referring to myself by the way.)
Here, I am wearing a perfect example of a classic LBR. The front of my pick has clean lines and pockets, but the back opens into a deep v embellished with ruffle detailing. It is kind of like a chic mullet – business in the front, party in the back – but in a good way! 😉
I kept the look casual on this occasion, choosing gold metallic sandals with a low block heel. (These shoes are also featured here. I’m kind of obsessed with how cute and comfy they are.) I paired it with a darling – and practical – sunhat with a grosgrain bow. As a bonus, this hat is legitimately packable. (It pops back into perfect shape every time, even after several good “smushings”.) Finally, I grabbed a cross-body clutch on a chain strap (it was already stocked from the night before and I was running a teensy bit late), but a straw tote wrapped with a cheery silk scarf would also be phenomenal with this look.
This black romper is ridiculously versatile too. For a bit of glam, pair it with pointy nude or colorful heels, or glitzy metallic sandals. Add statement earrings like these and you are ready for a fun night out. Easy peasy!
A simple black romper can be as invaluable as your go-to little black dress during the summer months. Whether you dress it up or dress it down, you will look crisp and effortless in your LBR.
