Temperature rising? I love the classic, sleeveless shift dress for spring. The little white dress (or in this case, ivory dress) is one of my go-tos once spring arrives, especially in this shift style. Preppy and practical, I find myself reaching for this dress over and over again throughout the warmer months.

Here, I am wearing it with a matching lightweight twill coat, strands of glass pearls, nude patent shoes with a low block heel and bow detail, and a simple bag with a classic chain strap, also adorned with a bow. Throw on some oversized sunnies and you are ready for anything life throws your way!

This look works in a multitude of settings – it will carry you through back to back meetings, a baby or bridal shower, or any springtime holiday.  Going out for the night?  Grab a clutch and swap out the shoes with a pair of high, pointy heels in literally ANY color (nude, black or a fun, bright color all work equally well) for a sexy, elegant look.

A light colored shift dress is a wardrobe workhorse and transitions beautifully into summer as well. Lose the jacket and replace the shoes with a pair of pointy metallic flats.  Trade in the pearls for a silk scarf and ditch the dainty bag for a tote. Voila! You are ready for a fun, summer Saturday afternoon.

There is very little the shift dress can’t do — and do well! This super versatile staple is pretty much the first thing I think of once the temperature heats up.  (Note: Looks great whether holding a glass of rose,  tequila neat – my personal preference, or anything else for that matter. Nifty, huh? I’m telling you – this dress is VERSATILE!)

What about you? I would love to hear about your favorite transition or staple piece too!

Happy spring!

xo, Eva
